Joshua Tree Trip

We did Joshua Tree a couple weeks ago. I posted the details from our adventure up on Upper Crust Expeditions - and naturally forgot to post it all here.

As usual, I end up photographing my wife, Kristen, more than the surroundings. What can I say?
She's my favorite.

Our good friend Jennifer got married last weekend in Long Beach, CA on the Carnival Imagination cruise ship. She asked her photo-nerd friends to bring  cameras and embrace their photo-nerdiness... so I did!

Welcome to 2016!

Last year, in 2015, I sold all my big DSLR gear and purchased a micro 4:3 camera so that I can carry around my camera more, since the smaller cameras are just infinitely easier to carry around.

So, for 2016, I've modified my man-purse to be able to include my camera kit. That's three lenses, one body, and a bazillion batteries. This means I've actually got my camera pretty much full time, which means hopefully I will be motivated to take more photos.

I'm also thinking about shooting exclusively in black and white for a while... considering I work in a black and white darkroom, I feel like I need to be shooting and printing like my clients do. These are toned just a little warm, since almost all of the printing I do is warm like this. (I currently work at a darkroom where I print Platinum/Palladium process prints).

This week has been snowmageddon in Flagstaff, so here are some photos from the last couple days.

Best of 2015: A Year in Review

As is now traditional, I am finishing up the year with a review of the photographs (ones that I took) and moments that were important this year. My wedding photos are not included in this series, since I didn't take them.

Each image taken in or near Flagstaff will be included in my upcoming photography show at Fire Creek Coffee Co. in downtown Flagstaff.

Thanksgiving in Colorado

So much going on recently that I haven't really been making it a priority to shoot. I know, surprise surprise.

That being said, I am trying to carry my camera more often and just shoot what there is to see around me. These first couple frames are of my aunt and uncle's cat, Toby. The others are from the beautiful snowy Thanksgiving I had with family in Colorado... which is apparently the only snow I am going to get this winter, since it refuses to snow in Flagstaff, and I will be in Phoenix for Christmas.
