Random Autumn Color and such

Just 'cause.

Lake Powell in the FJ

A few weeks ago, I went out to Lone Rock at Lake Powell for some solo camping and to get my FJ in the sand. I left Flagstaff around 7pm and was set up in camp by 10pm on the lake, just feet from the water. It's primitive camping - pit toilets and no water. Luckily for me, I can carry everything I need in the truck.

Lone rock is known for one thing: Sand. Lots of sand. I took the FJ out there to see if I could get it stuck in the sand (I tried, and I couldn't get it stuck) and to camp on the beach, next to the water; something I have always wanted to do.

Sunrise over my campsite, all alone on the far Eastern side.

Sunrise over someone else's site, nearer to the toilets and to other people.

My buddies Ryan and Amanda came out to play in the sand with me. They live just a few miles from the lake. Both vehicles handled admirably.

View of my campsite from up high.

Little bit of rock crawling.

More rock.

Towed this German couple's rented RV out of the sand and back to safety with my brand new Smittybuilt Recovery Strap (rated to 30,000 lbs)

Sunset on the lake.

E-tool. Works great as a shovel, bottle opener, and more!

Excellent, lightweight stove for making food/coffee/whatever.
