Flagstaff Landscapes

I love the monsoon season in Flagstaff.
Last weekend, Kristen, Preston and I ventured out into the world to make pictures and enjoy the rain. We did precisely that. It felt great to get out of the house, out of the "city" and hold a camera.

Once again, I surprise myself my making landscapes that I don't hate.

Not a whole lot going on in my life, photographically. I may try for a legitimate shoot with my CM400 motorcycle, but it honestly isn't much of a looker and I'm pretty happy just shooting when I'm inspired to shoot, rather than forcing myself to get out and be creative every day or even just once a week.

I do find myself making many more idiot mistakes than I used to, though.
  • Not checking my lens for dust/water before I shoot.
  • Forgetting to re-adjust settings back to my defaults between subjects.
  • Editing photos with my monitor at less than full brightness.
  • Forgetting to add keywords/metadata (the one thing I miss about Aperture)

I'm sure there are more. You know what they say: If you don't use it, you lose it. Oh well. A little bit of re-learning won't hurt me.

Sometimes I take pictures...

A few years ago, I called myself a photographer. I paid my way through college by making photographs.

I don't anymore, and that's OK.

These days, I'm a marketing guy or an entrepreneur, depending on who I am speaking with.

And sometimes, I take pictures.
