It is time. I am selling my Nikon equipment and buying a micro four-thirds system.
My criteria for photo gear for years has been:
1) 8fps motor drive
2) Good low light performance
3) Fast lenses
4) Big, professional-looking cameras
Now, I'm updating that fourth criterion to read: Small, light camera system I can travel with.
As such, my Nikon gear goes up for sale
Nikon D300s with Vertical Grip -- $450
100,000 shutter actuations
100,000 shutter actuations
Nikon D300 with brand new shutter -- $300
Nikkor 35mm 1:1.8 G DX lens -- $135
Nikkor 50mm 1:1.8 FX lens -- $85
The Nikkor 70-200mm 1:2.8 VR II ED lens I sold already, and the Tokina 11-16mm 1:2.8 I am giving to my lovely (soon to be) wife for use on her Nikon D7000.
I am replacing my Nikon gear with the Olympus OMD-EM10 and a grip of lenses that I hope will cover my basic needs.
The new gear will be:
- Olympus OM-D E-M10 body (black)
- Olympus ECG-1 Grip
- Olympus 15mm 1:1.8 body cap/lens (really excited about street photos with this)
- Olympus M.Zuiko 17mm 1:1.8 prime (used)
- Olympus 12-42mm 1:3.5-5.6 kit lens
- Olympus 40-150mm 1:4-5.6 zoom
- Plus a couple extra batteries
Whew! Reviews to come. If it sucks, I'll sell it and try something new.
