Colorado Camping: Meadow Creek Reservoir

Last weekend we drove up to Fraser, CO for my aunt's wedding. While there, we made sure to escape for a night to sneak up and find a spot to camp. This site at Meadow Creek Reservoir, about 8 miles outside of Fraser, was perfect. Not exactly secluded; there were plenty of other campers, but it was very pretty.

Playing with a new LED LENSER headlamp. Those suckers are bright!

I couldn't get over this father-son fishing duo. I probably spent two hours watching them.

Humphreys Peak Hike

I hiked to the top of the tallest peak in Arizona yesterday, accompanied by my buddy Ryan. It was a solid 7 hour hike from the base of Snowbowl to the peak and back. We probably spent a total of four or five minutes at the summit, miserably trying to hold our cameras at 39 degrees with 35mph winds howling at us and threatening to knock us over. 12 degrees with the wind chill.

The OMD EM-10 made an excellent hiking partner, especially with the 15mm bodycap lens. Set it and forget it. The camera handled the extreme temperature and humidity like a champ, though I probably need to find an alternative solution to the big BlackRapid camera strap... Something a little smaller would probably fit better and be less in the way.

4th of July Camping

We decided to get out of town a little bit for the 4th of July. No fireworks or partying for us. Just a quiet weekend away from all the hubbub.

Starting off the day right with some trail repair

Crazy texture in the tent. Can't figure out where the purple comes from.

Breakfast!

Lighting Upgrade on the FJ

Got some great new KC HiliTES on the FJ this week, working with our friends at Adventure Driven. They are the new Flex LED lights, and they are bright little suckers!
