Camera Phone set #2

Took all of the following pictures on my Blackberry Curve camera phone. It's a 2 Megapixel camera.
Pulled them into Adobe Photoshop CS4 and did things like contrast and saturation adjustments, as well as noise reduction.

All cars I found sitting parked in my neighborhood.

These are just a few of the good shots that I got, so I'm going do another post in the near future with more.

I just wish I'd had these shots for Chase Jarvis' iPhone giveaway. I wouldn't have won, but I might have at least made the gallery of 100 decent shots.

Updated Self Portrait

Didn't take much to get me motivated to shoot a new self portrait.
I dragged my camera, tripod and IR shutter release into my backyard and here's the final image!

I also had two contenders that look great in color... I've just been on a Black and White binge recently my entire life. The runner up's are below.

I've already updated my Blogger profile and Facebook page. I think I'll use one of the color shots for my facebook fan page.

Pictures

Here are a few more shots from that one day when I actually took pictures...

Workin on a self-portrait. Hopefully will have something decent to post in the near future.

More from Pearl

Here's another shot I got from my evening of perusing Pearl St.

This guy was really cool. His name (I have since learned) is David Flatcutf. I gave him (along with several of my other subjects) one of my business cards, and so far he is the only one to have emailed me requesting a picture.

That's all for now! Currently in the process of scanning in about 2000 of my dad's slides. It is going fairly quickly with a Canon CanoScan 8800F, 4 slides at a time, at 1200 DPI.

Gmail fail

Gmail's usually flawless system has been throwing spellcheck errors recently:

Notice how in this screenshot, the word is spelled "Photographer" (correct) and the Gmail spellcheck still highlights it in yellow. When I click on it, the top suggestion is EXACTLY the same, spelled "Photographer" still with a capital P and everything.
The gmail forum said to make sure my language hadn't changed. It is (and always has been) set to "English (US)."

Oh well.

Another cute kid

Here's a series of a little girl who was riding her bike around with her dad in the neighborhood.
She wasn't afraid of the camera at all, although when I pulled up, hopped out of the car and started firing off frames I freaked her dad out a little.

That's all for now.

Happy 4th!

The value of just getting out

I've been realizing more and more recently the value of just picking up the camera (or sketchbook, or instrument, or whatever) and going to find/make interesting subject matter.

Today I put my gear in the car and drove around first in my neighborhood, then down on the Pearl Street Mall. I got a bunch of good photos and most of them will end up on this blog at some point in the near future.

My favorite shot from the day is this:
I am still in love with the extremely rectangular crop!
Shot on the mall. She's sitting right in front of the huge rock/fountain thing up by Old Chicago.
I knew I had a few good shots of her, so I tried to introduce myself to her parents, offered them my card and said I'd be happy to give them a picture for free. They gave me the same treatment that people give everyone peddling crap on Pearl Street and walked away barely acknowledging me. Oh well, their loss I suppose.
If the parents come forward, I am still willing to honor that and email them a copy, but I doubt that will happen.

I managed to photograph a few kids and a couple musicians over the course of the evening. Some people accepted my business cards, but most did not. Either way, it felt good to get up, get out and be creative.
